A green lawn without the mowing
Artificial grass gives you a lawn that is green all year, never needs cutting and does not turn to mud with children and dogs on it. It is the most common request we get alongside a new patio.
Like any surface, it is only as good as what is underneath. We dig out the old turf, lay and compact a free-draining stone base, add a weed membrane, and fit a firm edge in block paving, sleepers or timber so the grass is held tight and does not lift at the sides.
We often lay artificial grass framed by a sandstone or porcelain patio, with curved block borders, or in the narrow strips and corners where real grass struggles.

Preparing and joining artificial turf
On most artificial grass installations in Tamworth, we plan roll positions before excavation to minimise joins across the main view. Once the old lawn is removed, we assess drainage and build a compacted aggregate foundation with a smooth finishing layer. The selected grass system determines membrane placement and any infill. Turf lengths are allowed to settle before trimming, with the pile facing consistently across adjoining rolls. Joining tape, suitable adhesive and perimeter fixings secure the lawn without trapping fibres in the seams.
Comparing grass samples and edges
Judge artificial grass by density, resilience and how the pile feels underfoot, rather than colour alone. A longer pile gives a different appearance but may need more brushing along frequently used routes. For dogs, discuss backing permeability and cleaning access alongside the lawn's foundation. Compare timber, sleeper and block edges against nearby paving, allowing for a secure fixing detail and a clear boundary between artificial turf and planting soil.
Brushing and cleaning your artificial lawn
Lift fallen leaves with a soft rake and brush the artificial grass against the pile using a suitable synthetic bristle brush. Remove pet waste promptly and rinse affected turf using the supplier's recommended cleaning method. Keep barbecues and other heat sources away from synthetic fibres. Check lawn seams and perimeter fixings occasionally, particularly beside busy paths, and clear debris before it restricts water passing through the grass backing.
