Swadlincote grew on clay and pottery, and its streets show it: red brick terraces round the town centre and Newhall, inter-war and post-war semis in Woodville and Midway, and newer estates spreading towards Church Gresley and Castle Gresley. Swadlincote and the villages around it, including Woodville, Church Gresley and Midway, have older terraces and semis alongside a lot of new housing. Older drives were often laid in thin concrete or tarmac that has cracked and sunk; we dig out to a proper depth, build a compacted base and relay in tarmac, block paving or resin so it stays level.
